The Lotus dwelling One

I wrote this Tamil poem about Lakshmī Nārāyana a few weeks ago. It describes the link between lotuses and the Divine Couple. The Lotus is my favourite flower and it is extremely dear to all forms of Lakshmī Nārāyana. They have Lotus-like eyes, face, hands, Feet and beauty. They are seated on Lotuses and also wear garlands of lotuses. This is the reason why I love lotuses very much!

ஓ  தாமரையே,  நீ  எனது தாய்!  

உன் அழகே திருமகளின் புன்னகை! 

சேறு, சகதியைக் கடந்து வருகிறாய்,‌ 

புத்துணர்ச்சியுடன் மலர்ந்து வருகிறாய்!

O thAmaraiyE! Nee enadhu thAi!

Un azhagE Thirumagalin punnagai!

sEru, sagadhiyai kadandhu varugirAi,

PutthuNarchiyudan malarndhu varugirAi!

O lotus, You are my Mother!

Your beauty is the smile of Srī!

You emerge from swamps and marsh

and bloom with energy!

உனது வண்ண வண்ண எழில் இதழ்கள்‌ 

கண்ணனின் நீண்ட கண்கள்! 

உனது பச்சைத் தண்டு - உலகளந்த 

உத்தமனின் மரகத மேனி!

Unadhu vaNNa vaNNa ezhil idhazhgal

KaNNanin neenda kaNNgal!

Unadhu pacchaith thaNdu ulagaLandha

Uttamanin maragatha mEni!

Your colourful and beautiful petals are

Krishna's broad eyes!

Your green stalk is the emerald hue

of the Uttama who measured the three worlds!

உனது வடிவே, வரம் தரும் அன்னை 

கடல்மகளின் கருணை மிகு முகமலர்!

உன்னைப் பார்த்து பார்த்து மகிழ்கிறேன்  

நீ மாதவன் வைகுந்தனின் உருவே!

Unadhu vadivE, varam tharum Annai KadalmagaLin karuNai migu mugamalar! Unnai pArtthu pArtthu magizhgindren, nee Mādhavan Vaikunthanin uruvE!

Your form is the compassionate face

of the generous Daughter of the Ocean!

I rejoice by gazing at you repeatedly,

For you are the embodiment of Vaikunta Mādhava!

எனது உள்ளமே உன் திருக்கோயில், 

எம்பெருமானே! உன் ஆலயம்‌ திருவாயில்

என்னை வா வா என்று அழைக்கவே, 

நான் ஓடோடி வருகின்றேன்!

Enadhu uLLamE  un Thiru kOyil, emperumAnE! Un Alayam thiruvAyil  ennai vaa vaa endru azhaikkavE,  Naan OdOdi varugindrEn!

My heart is your abode, O Lord!

The gates of Your Temple 

are calling me enthusiastically 

and I am running towards You!

காண கிடைக்காத காட்சியை - 

இப்பொழுது கண்ணால் காண்கிறேன்! 

உன் கார்முகில் வண்ணம் காண 

கண்கள் ஆயிரம் போதுமோ?

KaaNa kidaikkAdha kAtchiyai ippozhudhu kaNNAl kANkindren!

Un kArmugil vaNNam KaaNa  kaNNgal Aayiram podhumO?

I now see with my eyes

the sight which is unobtainable!

Are a thousand eyes enough

To behold your complexion of dark clouds?

குளத்தில் தாமரையாய், செடிகளில் துளசியாய்,

நிலங்களில் முல்லையாய், கடலின் அலையாய்,

விலங்குகளில் சிங்கமாய், விளக்கின் ஒளியாய்,

விலகாமல் ஒருபோதும் வேங்கடத்தில் இருக்கிறாய்!

kuLatthil thAmaraiyAi, sedigalil TulasiyAi, nilangalil mullaiyAi, kadalin alaiyAi, vilangugalil singamAi, viLakkin oLiyAi, vilagAmal orupOdhum vEnkatathil irukkirAi!

As a lotus in a pond, Tulsi among plants,

Forests among landforms, tides of the sea,

Lion among animals and the light of a lamp,

You dwell inseparably in Venkata (hill).

எப்பொழுதும் என் மனதில்  நீ உறைவாயா? 

எக்காரணத்திலும் அகலாமல் இருப்பாயா?

அடியவர்க்கு தவறாமல் தஞ்சம் அளிப்பாயே!

அடியவள்‌ என்னை கைவிடாமல் காப்பாயா?

eppozhudum en manadhil Nee uraivAyA? ekkAraNathilum agalAmal iruppAyA? adiyavarkku thavarAmal thanjam aLippAyE! adiyavaL ennai kaividAmal kAppAyA?

Will you reside in my mind eternally,

without going away for any cause?

Oh the One who unfailingly shelters His Devotees!

Will you protect me infallibly?

ஆழியும்  சங்கும்‌  ஏந்தி, 

அலைகளில் துயிலும் ஆண்டவா! 

தாமரையாய் என்‌ சிந்தையில் நின்று, 

தாமதம் செய்யாமல் நிலைப்பாய்!

Aazhiyum sangum Endhi,

alaigalil thuyilum Andava!

thAmaraiyAi en sindhayil nindru, thAmadham seyyAmal nilaippAi!

O Lord who wields a discus and conch

and reclines on the waves!

Fill my thoughts like a Lotus

and settle there without any delay!
