Shivaaya Vishnu Roopaya, Shiva Roopaya Vishnave

Shivāya Vishnu Rūpāya, Shiva Rūpāya Vishnave.

Śiva is the form of Viṣṇu and Viṣṇu is the form of Śiva. They are the same lord, the same supreme Brahman.

Śiva is Vannaga Bhūshana, Nārāyaṇa is Vannaga Sayana.

Śiva is Anātharakshaka, Nārāyaṇa is Ābathbāndava.

Śiva is Bhasma Vibhūshita, Nārāyaṇa is Srīkanda Lepitha.

Śiva is Chinmayā Nanda, Nārāyaṇa is Chinmaya Rūpa.

Śiva is Parameshwara, Nārāyaṇa is Paramapurusha.

Śiva is Vaidyanātha, Nārāyaṇa is Dhanvantari.

Śiva is Vishveshwara, Nārāyaṇa is Jagannātha.

Śiva is Mahādeva, Nārāyaṇa is Ādideva.

Śiva is Natarāja, Nārāyaṇa is Natawara.

Śiva is Vāmadeva, Nārāyaṇa is Vāsudeva.

Śiva is Kailāśanātha, Nārāyaṇa Vaikuṇṭhanātha.

Śiva is Umadhava, Nārāyaṇa is Madhava

Śiva is Umāpati, Nārāyaṇa is Lakṣmīpati.

Śiva is Kalyāṇa Sundara, Nārāyaṇa is Bhuvanasundara.

Śiva is Gopeshwara, Nārāyaṇa is Gopikāvallabha.

Śiva is Bhootanātha, Nārāyaṇa is Bhootakrita.

Śiva is Kumāra Janaka, Nārāyaṇa is Māra Janaka.

Śiva reclines as Pallikondeeshwara Svāmi, while Nārāyaṇa adorned with Nāgābharana, stands as Vēṅkaṭēśvara.

Śiva as Natarāja dances on Apasmara, Nārāyaṇa as Kālinga Mardhana dances on Kāliya.

Both have the same qualities, with different names. Sometimes the qualities differ too for the universe to function. But one must keep in mind that they are the same energy. Only if the world is destroyed, it can be created. Only if the world is created, it can be preserved.

Chapter 58 (Saubhagya Vrata) of Varāha Purāna corroborates this point unequivocally.

yA shrIH sA girijA proktA yo hariH sa trilocanaH || 3 ||

Lakshmī is identical with Girijā and Hari is identical with three-eyed Rudra. It is so declared in all Shastras and Puranas. Any Shastra or Kavya which states otherwise is not worthy of its name. Vishnu should be considered as Rudra and Lakshmī as Gaurī. He who speaks of difference between them is lowly (Adhama) among people and should be considered an atheist outside the field of Dharma.

Jaya Hari Hara!!

Yours,

Shyāmasundari Dāsi.

  1. As Krishna prays to Siva as recorded in Harivamsa,

namo harAya viprAya namo hariharAya cha |
    namo.aghorAya ghorAya ghora-ghora-tarAya cha

The Harihara name is beautiful, having been given by Madhava Himself ❤️

    Jai Harihara
