The Ideal Couple
From today we will explore the pastimes of a wonderful Couple whose story is narrated in the Itihāsas. Here are a few clues to know more about Them.
- This Couple is inseparable like the Sun and its rays.
- There is no need of talks between the Husband and Wife for They converse by Their hearts alone!
- This loving Couple understand each other very well and reside in each other's hearts.
- The Wife is the soul of Her Husband and dearer to Him than His own life.
- The Husband has His Consort as His equal, best friend, well-wisher and treats Her with utmost love, respect, dignity and freedom.
- The Wife never hesitates to voice Her opinion in front of Her Husband.
- The Husband can cross oceans, destroy and create universes for the sake of His Wife.
- The Wife can bear all kinds of pain and make fire and earth tremble for the sake of Her Husband.
- Even heaven is undesirable for the Husband when physically separated from His Beloved.
- The Wife doesn't desire kingdoms, riches and powers. Nothing matters to Her more than Her Husband.
- This unparalleled Couple is hailed by the Vedas. Nothing is beyond Them and They are very dear to Umā Maheshwara.
- They are Lakshmī Nārāyana Themselves.

Many wouldn't have actually expected this! Various thoughts like these would have crossed your mind:
- How can one worship Rāma after what He did to Sītā?
- No girl should be named after Sītā or else she will suffer a lot.
- How can Rāma be accepted as God for being an insecure and jealous husband?
- Sītā is a victim and is very submissive.
- If Rāma could ask Sītā for Agnipariksha, why can't Sītā do the same to Rāma?
- Sītā was too good for Rāma. She committed suicide when Rāma left Her.
- How can Rāma not trust His own wife?
- Sītā is fragile, meek and weak.
- Rāma and Rāvana- Rāvana abducted Sītā and didn't harm Her but Sītā's Husband Rāma suspected her and asked her to jump into the fire. Who is the bad guy? A kidnapper or a cruel husband?
- Being like Sītā will not empower women.
- How can one worship Rāma as a Maryāda Purushottama? He was a bad husband who let Sītā suffer!
- If someone in the modern age does what Rāma did to Sītā, would anyone glorify him?
- Rāvana is better than Rāma. Even Rāvana would have opposed Rāma's actions.

Yours,
Hari Priye.
