Maharaj Janak ki Kanya Bankar Pragati Mahalakshmi Sita!
A very happy Jānakī Navamī to everyone! Today is the day Mahālakshmī sprang from the furrows of Mithilā and blessed Janaka and Sunainā as their Daughter. Today is the day Jānakī brought happiness, prosperity, satisfaction, splendour and peace to Mithilā. Today is the day Sītā incarnated to assist Her beloved Raghunātha Rāma in His mission and set an example as an ideal Wife. Let's all worship Maithilī sincerely and try our best to understand Her.
I have written many posts and will do more in the future, I have spoken loads about your pastimes and strength, I have drawn you and Rāghava whenever I felt like, however, none of these are enough to celebrate your glories. I usually quote verses and argue to prove your greatness but while directly addressing you, I feel that none of them is required. I am totally speechless and am struggling for words. Born of the earth, O Bhūmijā! Your strength, courage, patience, endurance and compassion are matchless! O Ramā non-different from Rāma just like the Sun is identical with its Rays! The moment you saw Rāma, you never let Him escape your heart. You dedicated every breath, every moment and every action of yours for Him. You alone are suitable to Maryāda Purushottama in all ways, O Nārī Shiromani! You are His Sahadharmachārinī! You love, admire, worship and endlessly support Raghuvīra, O Jānakī! Your wise and profound words and actions have always been adored by the Lord of Your Heart! You are the source of ultimate joy for Rāma who is the delight of the entire universe! He, who's always self-contained and serene, lost His composure and became extremely grievous while being physically separated from you. His actions displayed His love and longing for you and your acts showed your devotion and immaculate dedication to Rāghava. To regain you, He performed many Līlās and blessed many people. You underwent separation from Rāma and brought glory to Him. Nothing is impossible without your will. Clearly His path is your story too, no doubt Maharshi Vālmīki has named His Rāmāyana as 'Sītāyah Charitam Mahat' -- the "Sublime Legend of Sītā."
Why didn't you make me a pillar in your palace in Mithilā to watch your Swayavara and wedding with Rāma? Why was I not a flower in the Pushpa Vātikā to behold the wonderful and memorable first meeting of you and Rāma? Why was I not at least a wall in Ayodhyā to witness Rāghava's pure love, respect and care for you and your blemishless love for Him? Had I been blessed with that opportunity, I would try my best to stop all the rash talk about you and your Husband in today's world. Had I been a plant in Ashoka Vātikā, I would have beheld your bravery, determination and immense strength in battling Rāvana with a single blade of grass and powerful words and would have been really inspired. I would tell everyone to stop perceiving you as a weak, helpless and meek Woman. Had I been a grain of sand on the battlefield of Lankā, I would have also witnessed your Agni Pravesha and the events preceding it and would tell people how much Rāma loved and trusted you and invited all blames on Himself. I would proudly narrate your firm and understanding replies to Him and your unparalleled act of entering the fire and emerging successfully. How much ever we all try to enlighten many people to stop demeaning you and Raghunāyaka, many do not get convinced!
Your names are sweeter than honey and enhance the beauty of your Lord's names. Sadly, many are believing that if a girl gets named after you, she will suffer a lot! When will people's perspectives change? Why can't they see faith, love, courage and resilience in the place of suffering? Your name Jānakī is extremely dear to me and enable me to perceive you as both my Mother and Daughter, O Mahālakshmī! Why didn't I get the golden opportunity to behold Lava and Kusha growing in your arms? O, what a priceless experience it would be to see you raise your Sons single-handedly and sing about Rāma! Your motherly love and kindness knows no bounds! You are ready to forgive even those who harm and hurt you! Such is your boundless mercy. Such is your forgiveness. Such is your grace.
I cannot fathom your endless compassion and forbearance. We survive because of you grace, yet people do not spare a moment to understand you. All they do is falsely sympathize with you and insult Rāma or fully glorify Rāma and sideline you. Rāghava can bear the insults hurled at Him but will never tolerate your pain. You would wholeheartedly forgive us when we point our fingers at you but would teach us a lesson if we defame Rāmachandra. But how are you both forgiving is repeatedly even when we hurl accuses at you? What do you wish to convey through these pastimes, O Mā? When will all this come to an end? I am eagerly waiting for the day people will truly recognize your strength and Rāma's love. Till then, please bless me to never falter in my love and dedication towards you. I want to sing your glories and stop all forms of demeaning. I seek nothing else, O Vaidehī! Wishing you a very happy Janmotsava!
Jai Janak Dulārī!
Jai Rāghava Priya Vaidehī!
Jai Siyā Rām!
Yours,
Hari Priye.
