The Ideal Couple: PART-6

Image
Today we will get to know the challenges battled by Sītā and Rāma in Yuddha Kānda and explore Their love for each other. Their endurance, strength and deep, unbreakable love would never cease to amaze us.  Rāma, Lakshmana and the army of Vānaras and bears reached the shore of the ocean. At that time, Rāma became immensely reminiscent of Sītā and lamented for Her. He expressed His pangs of love and shared His thoughts with Lakshmana. "It is said that sorrow gets vanished at the passing of time. But my agony of not seeing my beloved is getting increased every day. Oh, wind! Flow from the side of my beloved. Touch Her and touch me too. It is through you that I get a contact of Her limbs. It is through the moon that I get a contact of Her eyes. That Darling being carried away; might have cried “Oh, Lord!” Seeking for help. That thought is like poison gulped by me, hovering in my stomach and scorching my limbs. It is enough for me, who is passionate, that Sītā and myself are resting on...

Today we will see how Hanumān met Sītā in the Ashoka Vātika, conveyed Rāma's message to Her and dispelled the sorrow of the divine Couple. The Vānara army in the South got the information from Sampāti that Sītā was held captive in Lankā. Motivated by Jāmbavān, Māruti assumed a gigantic form and reached Lankā after battling many hurdles. At Lankā, Hanumān took a tiny form and looked for Sītā in all palaces, apartments, parks and halls but couldn't find Her anywhere. At last, He saw the splendourous and colourful Ashoka grove and perched upon a Simshupa tree. Hanumān finally spotted Jānakī sitting under a tree and surrounded by terrible demonesses. She looked like a doe encircled by a pack of hounds. Clad in soiled clothes and meagre, darkened ornaments, She was looking pale and emaciated out of grief. She was sighing heavily and shedding copious tears. Sītā was constantly thinking of Rāma. Her eyes were eagerly waiting the arrival of Her beloved Lord. With Her radiant beauty clo...

What I like the most about Devi Sita

Happy Sita Navami to all! May Jānakī, the beloved Daughter of Janaka and the dear Wife of Rāma bless us all! I was contemplating over what I like the most about Sītā, I just cannot pick one. Everything about Mā Sītā is divine and beautiful. Shall I talk about Mā Sītā’s beauty? Ahh! What to speak of Śrīmatī Sītā Devī’s unparalleled beauty? She was always decorated with a smile of pure love for Rāma and Her beautiful face was as splendid as millions of moon. Her teeth were like rows of pearls and forehead decorated with red sindūr. It is many women’s desire to look as beautiful as Her but it is impossible to match that divine beauty! As Tulasīdās ji wrote, Dekhi Siyā sobhā sukh pāva : ‘Seeing Sītā, Rāma was delighted. It seemed to Him as if Lord Brahmā had presented the whole world’s beauty before His eyes’. Or shall I talk about her love for Shrī Rāma?Their love is the basis of many stories that have found their way through the pages of history and into the heart of millions of devotees...

A very happy Jānakī Navamī to everyone! Today is the day Mahālakshmī sprang from the furrows of Mithilā and blessed Janaka and Sunainā as their Daughter. Today is the day Jānakī brought happiness, prosperity, satisfaction, splendour and peace to Mithilā. Today is the day Sītā incarnated to assist Her beloved Raghunātha Rāma in His mission and set an example as an ideal Wife. Let's all worship Maithilī sincerely and try our best to understand Her. I have written many posts and will do more in the future, I have spoken loads about your pastimes and strength, I have drawn you and Rāghava whenever I felt like, however, none of these are enough to celebrate your glories. I usually quote verses and argue to prove your greatness but while directly addressing you, I feel that none of them is required. I am totally speechless and am struggling for words. Born of the earth, O Bhūmijā! Your strength, courage, patience, endurance and compassion are matchless! O Ramā non-different from Rāma jus...

Today we will understand Rāma's love for Sītā and realize how Rāma considered Sītā to be dearer than His own life. After killing Mārīcha, Rāma hastened to His hermitage. He noticed many ill-omens and became worried about the safety of His beloved Sītā and Lakshmana. He saw a sad Lakshmana approaching Him and became surprised. Rāghava gently reproached Soumitri for leaving Sītā alone. He expressed His fears about Sītā's well-being. "Where is Vaidehī, the sharer of my sorrows, the One of slender waist who followed this hapless Prince dislodged from the kingdom to the Dandaka forest? O warrior Lakshmana, where is that Sītā without whom I have no interest to live for a moment, who was like the Daughter of a god and the sustainer of my life? O Lakshmana! I desire no lordship of the gods or of the entire earth without Jānakī, that lady of golden complexion. I will die if Sītā, the Princess of Videha, is not there to speak to me with Her sweet smile when I return to the cottage, ...
