"Our Lord is older than the oldest at the same time He is newer than the newest. We, your servants, who have got you as our Lord, would only bow before the blessed feet of your devotees, would only become their friends, would obey their orders with reverence and only your devotees shall be our wedded lords. If you, our King, bless us this way, what else do we want?"

After everyone woke up, all the friends are walking towards the pond to bathe. While going they are singing about Śiva. They call Him as older than the oldest, He alone was there before creation and He alone will remain after the dissolution. He is older than the oldest at the same time He is newer than the newest. They tell him "We should only bow down before you and your devotees and not before anyone else, let only your devotees be our friends, may we obey all their orders with great respect and let only your devotees be our Husbands ('Husbands' because all of them are singing in groups.)." As mentioned in Śiva Purāṇa, Śiva is very delighted when his devotees are worshipped and respected. One should revere a devotee as Śiva himself. The young ladies doesn't ask for a husband who is rich, attractive etc, but for a devotee of Śiva. They ask Śiva for nothing but the company of His devotees because when we are in the company of the devotees we can't fail to remember Mahādeva even for a second. Just like the girls let us all become a devotee of the devotees of Parameśvara.
